Travel and hospitality industry is currently witnessing a surge in all directions. More people realize the necessity to go and to experience the liberation that follows from exploring new destinations. When on the road, we are bound to meet new people, and for the most part everyone has their own unique stories to put down. However, all travelers can still be classified into two broad categories viz. Glampackers and Backpackers.
Both the types have existed since forever. However, it is only recently that people have started observing the actual differences. As their names go by, both these types of travelers are true to their self, and almost always follow their core beliefs when it comes to traveling.
Let’s see how these two travelers differ from each other, and it might help you narrow down what kind you associate the most with…
Objective
Every traveler has an objective, and it might stretch from exploration to partying and being in an isolated village to a most happening festival.
Glampacker
The Glampacker has all the money in the world, this does not mean the backpacker does not have it, but the Glampacker is all about spending it on most expensive items and experiences. The objective of Glampacker is to travel for recreation or if they are taking a break from career or family. For instance, if the Glampacker is going to Europe, you will see them first in line on the British Airways flight booking counter. They are all about luxury, but they can also be shrewd with money. They would go on a holiday to Europe, explore southern Spain, the party in Ibiza, and then head to London for their shopping fix, however when it will come to flights; a Glampacker will check out all the deals on different travel portals. Yatra, a leading travel portal is known for best deals when it comes to British Airways flight booking, and it is favored by Glampackers because they can spend the money saved on luxury hotels and experiences. They are essentially backpackers, but with a healthier wallet. A Glampacker will not sacrifice their comfort, and try to see the world within their comfort zone.
Backpacker
A backpacker is different; they seek to understand themselves and other people better by traveling. As opposed to Glampacker, a backpacker is all about soaking the experiences internally. They are after profound and overwhelming experiences that teach them more than the trivial aspects of life. If a backpacker is traveling to Europe, they will find the cheapest way to get around the continent. They are all about experiences, something that is beyond the materialistic significance. If a backpacker cannot afford British Airways flight booking, they would find cheaper alternatives. They also believe in home-stay experiences and are all about conversing with the residents and living as close to them as possible. A backpacker is always ready to sacrifice their comfort for traveling.
Appearance
Glampacker
Luxury is their epitome, and they are dedicated to their brands. A Glampacker will never sacrifice their shoes, clothes or bags for anything; they are all about being on the road. You will find them traveling as glamorous as possible. Stylish travelers who splurge on luxury hotels, fine dining, and luxury vacations. A Glampacker will be dressed all chic and will sport lots of bags.
Backpacker
Independent travelers who are seen wearing anything from pants to boxers or jeans. They are always aligned to their goal which is to travel and explore as much as possible on a limited budget. You would be seeing them in most off-beat paths and most of them often rock dreadlocks. They would carry maximum one bag and are decently dressed.
Shopping and Souvenirs
Glampacker
Glampackers often return with more luggage than they had taken initially. They would buy expensive gifts from branded and designer stores. You could also see them buying the trendiest items that align with their fashion sense.
Backpacker
Backpackers are not so much about shopping or souvenirs; however, they would purchase the unique and oddball thing from the artifacts or antique store. They are more about art and would rather capture those expensive materialistic things on their camera.
Both, the Glampacker and Backpacker are of all ages, backgrounds and have their way of traveling through the world. The necessity to travel has been growing rapidly, and more people are going out to discover what lies beyond their daily life. Traveling serves various purposes, and it is different for most people.
