Five More Things You Can Do at Home

Thank Goodness Easter is over, with all the cooking, spring cleaning, egg hunting and so on! With the holiday gone, it’s time to get back to “business as usual” – and maybe deal with some of the stuff gathering dust at home, waiting to be dealt with. Notice that I said “deal with” and not “dispose of” or “throw away” – there are many things in our house that we can turn into useful or even stylish things.

1. Old Jeans can turn into…

Jeans are a reliable and versatile piece of clothing, but when they meet their doom – either become too tight, too loose or just simply go out of style – they can become a versatile and reliable raw material for some DIY home projects. Here are a few things that a pair of denims can turn into: place mats, floor mats, rugs, floor cushions, pillows, handbags, aprons, slippers, dog and cat toys, or even stylish decorations for many occasions. So, instead of throwing them out or offering them to a charity, turn them into things that you can use around the house – or just simply like.

2. Knitwear can turn into…

Knitted clothes – sweaters, pullovers, you name it – have one thing in common: they are easy to un-knit! Usually it only takes a bit of effort to find the beginning of the string, and you can undo the piece and turn it into yarn, that can be used to craft a huge variety of things, from socks, caps, gloves or scarves to place mats, rugs, pillow stuffing (see above), cat and dog toys, and a variety of other things.

3. Magazines, junk mail, other paper waste can turn into…

Paper is among the most versatile raw materials for home projects. It has an incredible variety of uses – it can be rolled, folded, framed, burned, and used up in a huge variety of ways. Colorful glossy magazines, catalogs and other colorful “paperware” can turn into clocks, weaves, Christmas ornaments, organizers, vases (for dried flowers, of course), photo frames, jewelry, stylish bags, and a variety of other things.

+1 – Old furniture can turn into…

Re-purposing old furniture is easier than you think. A fresh coat of paint, some easy decorations and some textiles can turn an old armchair into a new seating for your patio, offering you a cozy place to relax, and enjoy some well deserved rest – and maybe some royal vegas online casino games after a tiresome spring cleaning and holidays.

And for the rest of the things you can’t find a new purpose for after spring cleaning, there is still the classic ways to dispose of: donate to charity, sell online or simply throw away!
