What does it take to lead a better life? The answer to this question varies for everyone, but the source may be the same. For housewives and domestic Goddesses everywhere, the inspiration for a better life may just come in the form of one great inspirational movie. Hollywood knows what they are doing and can speak to the hearts and minds of many. So to all of you domestic queens who are reading this, these movies are for you.

Erin Brockovich

This is a must-see for every woman who gives selflessly to her family, making sure her children are taken care of and her spouse is happy. This is no ordinary movie, it is a true story. A story of determination on the part of a single mother whose primary goal is to provide first for her children, then herself. Without any legal skills, she was hired by an attorney and won the biggest class-action law suit in history. She is truly an inspiration to women everywhere, making them all believe in the power of determination–that if you put your mind to something you can achieve whatever you want.

When a Man Loves a Woman

Who doesn’t love Meg Ryan? She absolutely shines in this movie, starting out as the wife of an airline pilot and the stay-at-home of two young daughters. She is an alcoholic who eventually finds herself in a treatment center, and as she recovers, she realizes her husband was part of the problem, not the solution. This appeals to women because not every marriage is perfect nor is every woman perfect. Watching this movie helps you realize that you cannot rely on others to fix your problems for you, you must rely on yourself.

A Walk to Remember

A beautiful movie based on the book by Nicholas Sparks, one of the most inspirational authors of our time. Mandy Moore plays Jamie Sullivan, the high school outcast because her father is the town preacher. Although friendly, she does not go out of her way to be someone she is not, popularity does not matter to her. Through it all, the most popular boy falls in love with her. Being who you are earns you more respect than being fake. This is a lesson everyone should take to heart.

The Blind Side

This is definitely one of Sandra Bullock’s best movies, and there’s not much that is more inspirational than this. Another true story, Sandra’s character, a wealthy white woman in the south with a husband and two children, makes the decision to take in an African-American teenage boy with no home. She does so without a second thought, giving him a life he never thought possible. With virtually no education, he succeeds in life because of her actions. This alone pulls at the heartstrings of mother’s everywhere. She does not care what her friends or family think, she follows her heart and rescues this boy from a life of poverty. He is now a professional football player for the NFL.

The Passion of the Christ

Regardless of your religious beliefs, this movie serves to inspire housewives everywhere. You cannot watch this movie and not feel a tear at your heart as you see the torture Jesus experienced, imagining what it must have been like for Him. If there is any movie that inspires someone to lead a better life, this is it.

Thousands of movies are released each year, but few have the ability to inspire and touch hearts, making people want to lead a better life. Taking the time to watch these movies will do just this.
