Who doesn’t love fashion? For some of us it’s a creative outlet for a not so creative and crafty person. For others, it’s a way to indulge in ourselves while staying away from that chocolate cake. For some still, it’s a chance to bond with friends and family members over a great shopping trip followed by lunch. No matter what your reason is for loving fashion, we can all agree on one thing, the fashion trends for 2017 are both beautiful and functional, which has us lacing up our boots and running to the stores.

Fashion Trend #1: Looser clothing

Though you may be used to seeing every other woman dressed up in leggings and an accompanying top, you’ll start to see some other styles take hold as well. One of these is the introduction back to looser clothing, both in tops and bottoms. With this trend, you’ll find flattering tops that hold their shape while adding a little wiggle room from the waist to the hips. You’ll also notice pants that reassemble leggings yet sit a little looser on the hips going down, offering more leg movement inside.

Fashion Trend #2: Jeans

Jeans have always been in style, and for good reason. As a closet staple, you can mix and match them to your heart’s content, adding in bold darker colors to offset lighter hues or to draw attention toward certain body parts creating your ideal shape. Jeans will continue to rule the fashion world but this time they’re going to take it up a notch with more patchwork designs and styles, which may feel like you’re going back in time. These jean styles will range from boot cut to jean shirts with a patchwork pocket, giving you lots of opportunity to put together your new favorite outfit.

Fashion Trend #3: Neutral and darker colors

You’ll also find that several designers are sticking to neutral colors this year, with some concentrating more on grays and whites while others on tans and browns. These neutral and darker colors help to allow more use out of each piece, as you can form various different outfits during the week, each one looking different from the next. You’ll also find that dresses are no exception with the rise of striped black and white or grey and white patterns. This holds true for both short dresses and maxi dresses.

Fashion Trend #4: Extra long sleeves

For those colder months, you’ll want to make sure that not only your arms are covered but your hands as well. With the addition of extra long sleeves, you may get to leave those gloves at home. These sleeves extend completely past the tips of your fingers, creating an extra army effect. You’ll see this sleeves on long sleeved shirts and sweaters as well as a few thicker jackets. Because the ends of the sleeves are wider than the top, you’ll find it extremely easy to move your hands in and out.

Fashion trends are constantly changing, keeping us on our toes and consistently changing out our closets in order to make room for the newest items out there. What you’ll find in 2017’s fashion trends however is that the focal point lies in the clothes, and not so much the accessories and shoes.
