5 Beautiful Central American Picks For Your Wedding

5 Beautiful Central American Picks For Your Wedding

What better way to spend your ‘big day’ than in the Central American sunshine surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, snow-white beaches, crashing waves or colourful towns. Central American wedding tourism is growing fast, in-part due to it’s low cost and picturesque destinations, if you are planning your wedding now, then look no further than these top destinations.

Roatan, Honduras

Honduras may not be somewhere that you would consider to put on your list of wedding locations but you shouldn’t believe the hype. Honduras has dangerous cities, but the north of the country features some breathtaking locations, none-more-so than the island of Roatan. This small island sits in the Caribbean Sea and it’s shores genuinely look like the front of a postcard. Roatan has some perfect settings for you and your guests and there are a few places on the island that offer wedding ceremonies. Accommodation here ranges from hotels to apartments and beautiful and well designed beach huts, a wedding and honeymoon all in one.

Nosara, Costa Rica

Nosara is a beautiful and tranquil village situated on Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast in the North of the country and would be a beautiful place to get married. Costa Rica weddings are becoming increasing popular as many flock to the rainforests for a different style of wedding, but if you prefer the usual stunning beach, clear water and beautiful natural landscape option, then Nosara is for you.

Belize

This tiny country at the tip of Central America is perfect for those looking for an adventurous wedding abroad. The scenery here is beautiful, with rainforests, caves, caribbean coastline and mayan ruins adorning almost every inch of land in the country. Belize has some of the greatest diving locations in the World and offers plenty of rainforest treks and tours and lots of water activities. Accommodation here is varied and you could stay anywhere from a rainforest hideaway to a beachfront hotel. Belize gives you the chance to get married in paradise and then go crazy with activities, a perfect blend.

Antigua, Guatemala

Once again, Guatemala may not be a country that you have considered for your wedding as it comes with a somewhat dangerous reputation. Despite this, I cannot recommend Antigua in Guatemala enough, a quaint town drenched in intricate architecture and filled with beautifully designed boutique hotels for a truly memorable wedding day. Antigua is surrounded by a breathtaking mountain range and the town itself offers a glimpse into it’s colonial history having remained largely unchanged in it’s appearance. In the surrounding areas of Antigua there are several tours and activities available from climbing volcano’s to bird watching in the forest. Guatemala does not get enough credit for it’s amazing landscapes and watching the sunset over the tree-line from the top of a volcano will be a perfect way to end your wedding stay in this wonderful part of the World.

My advice to anyone planning a wedding abroad is not to overlook Central America as a destination for your big day. Whilst there are some areas that should be avoided, many the region’s most beautiful and idyllic locations are not only safe, they are also very well priced and can offer you the same perfect wedding as more crowded and more expensive areas such as Caribbean and Northern American wedding locations.
